Beloved Seniors: Spanish Edition

40 screen-free guided sessions including word search, memory and conversation activities for older adults, family members and professional caregivers.

Beloved Seniors: Spanish Edition

Cuaderno de actividades para queridos mayores is a practical, screen-free activity workbook created for older adults, family caregivers and professional caregivers who want to turn everyday care routines into calmer, more human and more meaningful moments.

Through simple word search, memory and conversation activities, the workbook helps older adults focus, remember and share stories — with no tests, no pressure and no need to find “right answers”.

Each guided session presents a familiar theme from everyday life, a short recall activity and an invitation to talk. One simple word can open space for a memory, an emotion, a family story or a moment of shared presence.

Use it at home, during visits, in home care, senior residences, day centers, clinics, memory cafés, community groups or any care setting where a calm, structured moment can make the day feel warmer.

Screen-free. Flexible. Gentle. Created to connect.

Why you’ll love this workbook

  • Creates calm moments of connection between older adults and the people who care for them in everyday life.
  • Supports attention and focus through familiar word search activities that are easy to begin.
  • Gently stimulates memory, with no pressure, no tests and no expectation of perfect performance.
  • Turns everyday words into meaningful conversations, using familiar themes as bridges to memories and personal stories.
  • Offers a ready-to-use structure, especially helpful on days with little time, low energy or limited attention.
  • Adapts to different levels of mood, energy and comfort, allowing each activity to be paused, repeated or shortened.
  • Works as a screen-free alternative for quality time, companionship, presence and calm routine.
  • Helps caregivers record stories, reactions and observations on dedicated note pages.

How each session works

1. Focus & Attention

A short word search introduces a common and familiar theme — something simple, recognizable and emotionally safe, such as home, neighborhood, health, leisure, family, faith, community or celebrations.

Before looking for the words, the caregiver can explore the theme with gentle questions, such as: “What do these words make you think of today?” or “What memories might this theme bring?”

2. Memory & Recall

After the word search, the older adult is invited to write down or say the words they remember.

There is no need to remember everything. Some days may bring many words. Other days, only one or two. Everything has value. The invitation matters more than the result.

3. Story & Conversation

Together, the caregiver and the older adult choose one word that feels pleasant, curious or meaningful.

That word becomes a gentle bridge to a memory, a feeling or a personal story. The caregiver can use the lines on the page to write down key ideas, without trying to transcribe the entire conversation.

  • Familiar everyday themes, including home, community, health, leisure, faith, family, celebrations and shared living.
  • A clear three-step structure: Focus & Attention, Memory & Recall, Story & Conversation.
  • Activities that can be paused and adapted, allowing each session to be completed, interrupted, repeated or resumed another time.
  • Estimated time indicators to help plan short, realistic moments within the care routine.
  • Energy and participation levels to help choose the right activity according to the person’s mood, comfort and attention on that day.

The workbook was designed to be flexible. You can accompany a full session, stop halfway, repeat a page another day or use just one question to begin a calm conversation.

Pause when needed. Repeat pages. Adapt the activity to the energy and mood of the day. Celebrate participation, not accuracy.
